The nesting behaviour is quite complex compared to most other spider wasps and shows the behavioural versatility of the female wasp. 7. They walked slowly toward each other, both scissoring their wings ( whereas vertical wing flicking is normal in spider wasps ). 8. Enemies of the trapdoor spider include certain pompilids ( spider wasps ), which seek out the burrows and manage to gain entrance. 9. They are called spider wasps , because the female of many species when ready to lay eggs hunts for a spider and then stings it. 10. The adult spider wasp " Tachypompilus ferrugineus " uses the flowers of " C . floribunda " as a nectar source.
